Welcome to our Castle Hotel in Scotland - Castle Venlaw. Built in 1742 and opened as an hotel in 1949 the Castle has been owned by John and Shirley Sloggie for the past 8 years.

Over the years the hotel has built an enviable reputation in the Scottish Borders. It has been recommended in the Good Hotel guide since 1997, is recommended by Conde Nast Johansens and boasts one of only 2 restaurants in the area to hold 2 AA rosettes for its restaurant.

Whether your stay is for leisure or business you can be assured of the warm welcome that has made Castle Venlaw a popular year round retreat.

Our 12 bedrooms are individually designed and we are pleased to be able to offer a choice of 4 four poster rooms. Our 2 new Romantic Suites are the ultimate for that romantic getaway whatever your age.

Government legislation means that it is now illegal to smoke in any public place throughout Scotland. For this reason, the hotel is completely non smoking.

Our library bar is the ideal place to relax at any time of the day and if you need a meeting room, private dining room or even a room in which to be married our Adam Room is the ideal choice.

The Castle is a popular wedding venue and we always offer attractive rates to bride and grooms wishing the style and privacy of exclusive use for your special day.

Perhaps you would like to buy a gift for a special friend or relative. Have a look at our Gift Vouchers page.

We always offer short breaks rates and our popular Christmas and New Year house parties always book up early.

Our hope is that you will have a memorable visit to Castle Venlaw and will, as many of our guests do, return time and time again.
